IMG 9085 A bit overcast on day one heading up the coast. The view of the road is clear and the pavement is dry so no complaints. We stop for lunch in Gualala after we arrived in Ocean Cove too soon to eat there. IMG 9086 Tacos are a bit small but are lovingly made. Will eat here again for sure. IMG 9087 Adam got tamales. IMG 9088 The menu and the name of the restaurant are here. IMG 9089 We arrive at the cabin and the vibe is immediate. IMG 9090 Lots of these around.
IMG 9092 The bees like these. IMG 9093 Tire wear on day one. Dirt driveway to the cabin is sketchy. IMG 9094 Vestiges of fog just buring off this far inland (about 3-4 miles). Generally pretty cool here. IMG 9097 We'll set up tents in this clearing. IMG 9098 Zeke arrived the night before. IMG 9099 Enough distance away from the snorers? I hope.
IMG 9100 Adam's new used KTM 950 Adventure. Same vintage as my bike, which is surprising because he keeps telling me I've held onto my bike too long. IMG 9101 Zeke's Africa Twin. Way more modern gizmos than my or Adam's ride. IMG 9102 The bikers have taken over. [Pardon my finger over the lens.] IMG 9103 Old growth tree stump full of mechanical equipment? Stay tuned for more. IMG 9106 Lots of these around too. IMG 9108 Hawk arrives having taking the long way from Portland. Note the spectators for anyone trying to descend the steep dirt driveway.
IMG 9111 Secret entrance to the underground bunker created by the previous property owner. IMG 9112 Everyone is here now. IMG 9113 The property is 13 acres but most of it is this ravine that runs down to the Big River. IMG 9114 It is a short ride into town for services. Yay. IMG 9115 Your dinner options. IMG 9116
IMG 9117 IMG 9118 IMG 9119 Garlicky smell got lots of favorable comments. Execution was good but not amazing. IMG 9120 Many varieties of burger were selected. IMG 9121 Slugs were abundant. [We are done with the restaurant pictures for now.] IMG 9122 Secret storage room in the cabin.
IMG 9124 We even get to have campfires! This was one thing I really would have missed from our original plan.
