Problem #2 is the support structure for the vaulted living room ceiling. At about 4' from the wall, it is not a big problem though. Note the 2x8 joists sistered in where I'm standing. Not sure why they did that since they didn't build into here. Saved me the trouble. I'll likely do that for the far side too.
