IMG 8660 Holiday be damned. If you get there at 7:30 you've got your choice of parking. I'm that many years old now. IMG 8661 Lowest tide we've ever seen here? IMG 8663 Nice morning. IMG 8665 Clam poop? IMG 8669 Escape from San Francisco IMG 8679 Koba keeps his eye on the ball.
IMG 8680 The ocean, it has a flavor. IMG 8681 phlpphphplpllllpppp IMG 8684 Satisfied IMG 8685 Finally getting around to fixing this thing too. Bad knockoff gasket must go. IMG 8686 Let's properly fix that lock washer too. That second tab usage was a bit sketchy but it proved the concept. IMG 8687
IMG 8688 Air wrench gets it done without shreds of rag inside the motor. IMG 8689 New. Note the location of the nut was marked before removing. It was not quite up to the specified torque when tightening with the hand method and jamming something between the gears. Since the impact driver doesn't have a torque reading, we are just gonna have to eyeball it. IMG 8690 That key doesn't fit very tight. Lots of free play until you torque it down. IMG 8691 Tightened a bit past before, until a flat lines up. IMG 8692 Hammered home. IMG 8693 They went to enough effort and expense to make a proper gasket. Just not enough attention to detail.
IMG 8695 Bolt holes too small. IMG 8696 Dowel holes also critically too small. IMG 8697 This is close to where the leak was happening. Things really had to get warped to line up here. IMG 8698 Drops right on. Lays flat. Much better. IMG 8699 Cleaned up and ready. IMG 8700 The manual says to line this up, but shows the side you can't see when you are holding it up to the engine.
IMG 8701 Would be much better if they said to hold this like this when putting the cover on. IMG 8702 Man that cable is fiddly. IMG 8703 All done but the crankshaft nut. Had to go to Autozone and get more blue loctite. The tube I had melted the cap and leaked, it had been sitting in the rollaway so long IMG 8704 After his morning at the beach, he's ready to be a dust dog. IMG 8708 We make a run to the grocery store and try one of the other varieties. IMG 8709 This picture is a note to myself to see if I have good records of the last fork service (sadly, no). Not sure what made that stain.
IMG 8710 Sounded very sweet after starting it up. Next up is new rotors and pads on the front.
